Videos of the Joplin Tornado

On May 22nd, a devastating tornado hit Joplin, Missouri, wreaking havoc on the town and killing more than a hundred and twenty people.

In this video, with hardly any discernible visuals, more than a dozen people take shelter in the walk-in storage fridge of a gas station. The tornado begins approaching around the 1:20 mark, and hits at 2:14.

Storm chasers capture the massive, gathering storm, then drive back through the destruction in town.

Below, the cyclone takes shape at 1:28.

A Weather Channel reporter gets choked up while surveying the tornado’s aftermath.

The man who shot the gas-station video at top returns two days later to survey the wreckage.
