Video: George Steinmetz, Aerial Photographer

This week in the magazine, Lauren Collins writes about her journey to Algeria with George Steinmetz, a photographer who uses a paraglider to capture bird’s-eye views of natural landscapes and the human environments. (Subscribers can read the full text of Collins’s article through our digital edition; others can buy access to the issue.) Upon her return, Collins and a multimedia producer took a less arduous journey to Steinmetz’s home in New Jersey, where they discussed his career and the pleasures and perils of seeing the world from what he calls his “flying lawn chair.” With photographs by George Steinmetz and aerial video by François Lagarde.
