Video: Art and Fingerprints

In this issue of the magazine, David Grann writes about Peter Paul Biro, a Montreal art restorer who uses fingerprint analysis and other forensic methods to authenticate paintings. In the video below, Grann describes Biro’s background, his attribution of “La Bella Principessa” to Leonardo da Vinci and another painting to Jackson Pollock, and questions about Biro’s methods raised by Pat Wertheim, who specializes in forged and fabricated fingerprints.
